Istanbul...

Got my F1 registration yesterday, was about to see my first telementry and stats from a live race at 8pm last evening. But nope didnt stay home to watch the figures roll in from Istanbul, Turkey. Was in my Renault plying the streets of Southwestern Singapore to meet dear Old tuck for dinner and movie. Any way the results are as follows:

1. Rakkinon,Mclaren-Merc
2. Fisi, Renault
3. Alonso, Renault

Yep, the telemementry was quite techinical. An eye opener for me...looks like stock market stats. Haha.

By the way, saw "The" Maid last night, scared the living daylights out of me.. if brave enough go watch. But make sure you are not the one to drive home last and alone. Creepy...

F1 fever..

Another mechanical fascination, being dwelling in the science of F1 recently. Must say say its a real eye opener. Learned about its rules, its technology, its people, its legends and of course its money. It is probably the only sports I have I have really taken an interest into. English Premier League Jus never caught on for me despite of the many friends who cajoled me into watching soccer with them. Why the sudden facination in something that is completely out of league of my favourite science, aviation. The reason are many...

Firstly, I drive my proud little Renault frequently, which is of course the winning team for this F1 season.

Secondly, F1 aero science is the inverse of aerodynamics employed in aircraft.

Third, F1 Racing magazine has many well taken pictures, jus like a national gegraphic magazine. Maybe even better. Photography was one of my "profession" in university.

Last but most importantly, the drivers despite of their wealth and charm, are as human as I am. There are times of slumps, frustration, happiness and success. One may be successful this year but next year remain remain uncertain.

Take for example the great German Michael Schumacher, He is well not the champion this year, but he hold the course, coaxing as much speed from his Ferrari F2005s despite being outpaced by the faster Mclaren and Renaults. But like a true master, he works hard. To the untrained eye, he seems to be losing the magic. But on deeper analysis, he is still good, in fact very good and well respected by others in the F1 circle.

The other relatively unknown Brit Jenson Button, who is actually two years younger than I am. His performance this year is a shadow of what he was used to. It was a slump year for him. His future is just as uncertain as I am... He will not know whether he will return to drive for Williams as a secondary driver or remain with BAR Honda. Just like me not knowing whether I will return to MOE or elsewhere. The uncertainty is overwhelming...

Who do I support?Renault? Nope..Doesn't matter, all the teams are good. Its the twist and turns that make it interesting and human...Type A personanlity for all the drivers? Reckless and brainless risktakers? Some maybe..but most are type B personality..yes Sensitive New Age Guys.SNAGS haha... Vincent out.

Starting back on blogging?

Maybe maybe...

Am able to type more now. But not too much. So wat has my life being? Looking after kids. Reading up on turbodiesel engines...catching F1 sports stories.From planes to cars? why..? simple economics.. I can't afford flying nor buy aviation mags. I still drive and yep...ever since my little french car came into my life. I being reading so much on it and automobiles. Driving in Malaysia is the new passion... this is the first weekend in three weeks that I am spending in Singapore. Next week will be in KL. Life is still hard and uncertain, that why more expenditure in Malaysia then Singapore, things are "half price" over there. Thats my strategy for saving money in these lean times. Being looking for jobs too...automobile and aviation related...anyone any lobang?

Gathering of the flyboys after a long long while...

Its has been a long time since I last wrote in this blog. So much has happened in the past year and once again the flyboys have gathered together at orchard.So much have changed. Gathering at the borders cafe,we catch up with each other's lives. Of course the talk includes the endless discussion of flight training, performance of the planes that we had flown and each of these creatures idiosyncarcies. AJ is married and is changing to fly 747s soon, while JS has completed his training in Australia and is posted to fly 777s. As for me, I pilot my humble Renault on the roads of Singapore.

I am proud and filled with envy for the both of them. I do make ocassional visits to see my little Cessna 9V BOQ but can now only view it from afar. Its being a long while since I had sat on its left seat(a.k.a the captain's seat).As for my teaching career its is about almost over... Wat the future holds for me I do not know. But I will rebuild my life no matter it difficult it would be.

Of French cars and French roads....

The trip to toulouse has been cancelled. Wanted to see the Airbus factory. So no drives through the treelined roads of toulouse. Instead have been behind the wheel of a little french car alot recently. A little turbocharged renault, smooth, quiet, firm controls and a real delight to drive. Not to say lots of POWER!! Loved it... a real work of art. The french indeed do things in style. Dun think I will find the same heart and passion put into the design of a jap or korean car.

My doc was right, a time of recovery will give me opportunitiy to see things far beyond what I can see if I had just stayed on my teaching job.Met many people whom I may never know, experience lots of things which I may never have. Wat is the future? I dunno...But I know God has a plan for me.

Over the Indian ocean...

Tryinh hard to type..

Flown again yesterday..this time over the Indian Ocean. The Aussie captain handed control of the Cessna 172SP to me. It was beautiful, floating over the reefs below me. Descended to 500 feet and could see the fishes swiming in the reefs. Havent touch the controls of an airplane for almost for four months since my life collasped totally. Life is still in shambles, and have no idea wats all gonna be. Getting better though...but recovery will be long and hard.
